Scope and Objectives

Portugal 2030 support for the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, which aims to promote the marketing, quality and added value of fisheries and aquaculture products, as well as the processing of these products.

Beneficiaries

SMEs with an eligible CAE:

  • 102 – Preparation and Preservation of Fish, Crustaceans and Molluscs;
  • 104 – Production of Animal and Vegetable Oils and Fats; and
  • 108 – Manufacture of Other Food Products.

Incentive Rate and Form of Support

Base rate: 50%

If it is a start-up, spin-off or co-promoted project: 75%

If it is a Public Entity: 100%

Non-repayable grants (non-repayable fund).

Types of Eligible Investments

  • Productive investments as well as investments that promote decarbonization, the use of renewable energies and energy efficiency, the circular economy, digitalization and internationalization, including those that:
    • Improve environmental and climate performance;
    • Strengthen food security;
    • Promote the introduction of new species to the market, namely through the valorization of fish with lower commercial value;
    • Promote the processing of by-products resulting from the main processing activities;
    • Promote the valorization of aquaculture products;
    • Are innovative, promoted by companies or in co-promotion with universities or research centers, provided they are led by the company;
    • Promote the use of renewable energies and improve energy performance, optimize the use of water resources;
    • Promote the use of bio-based, biodegradable or recyclable packaging, or other initiatives that reduce the use of paper or plastic;
    • Contribute to reducing food waste by introducing innovative solutions in fish processing and commercialization
  • Promoting entrepreneurship by supporting the creation and development of start-ups and spin-offs;
  • Investments in the certification and promotion of sustainable fisheries and aquaculture products, including the processes that culminate in the registration of trademarks or patents;
  • Investments that reduce the impact of the activity on the environment; and
  • Marketing innovation, involving the implementation of a new marketing method with significant changes to the design of the product or its packaging, or its promotion and distribution.
